“Art is not escape, but a way of finding order in chaos, a way of confronting life” – Robert Hayden.
Many people throughout time have used art as a way of putting life’s troubles in perspective and using the creativity on the canvas to better understand themselves.
At Urban Pathways’ Hallet’s Cove residences in Queens; program participants are doing just that at our new art classes.
Thanks to a grant from New York City Council Member representing Hallet’s Cove – Costa Constantinides. Our art classes are held bi-weekly on Saturdays, the class is taught by an official art director who guides program participants in lessons from color mixing to shadowing; as well as an introduction to basic art history.
Urban Pathways’ donors assist in making the art class at Hallet’s Cove an all-day event by preparing lunch for the clients.
Help us keep these art classes running by donating any new or gently used art supplies. Each donation will benefit at-risk and formerly homeless New Yorkers. For more information on how and where to donate please email development@urbanpathways.org or call 212-736-7385 x215. If you would simply like to donate please click here.
