Urban Pathways, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary P. Jenkins as the organization’s inaugural Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). In this new role, Mr. Jenkins will be responsible for overseeing the internal operations of Urban Pathways, including the supervision of key leadership positions.
Gary P. Jenkins brings over thirty years of exemplary leadership and management experience to Urban Pathways, with a distinguished career in public service. Mr. Jenkins previously served as the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Social Services, where he led the city’s public assistance and homeless services programs, managing a workforce of 14,000 employees and overseeing a $12 billion budget. His extensive experience in public administration and his deep understanding of the complexities of social services will be invaluable as Urban Pathways continues to expand its impact.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jenkins has been committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations. His tenure with the NYC Human Resources Administration saw him hold various senior roles, where he successfully developed and implemented programs that addressed the needs of diverse populations across the city. His proven expertise in needs assessment, program development, and community outreach makes him uniquely qualified to drive operational excellence at Urban Pathways.

Gary P. Jenkins holds a Master of Public Administration from the Metropolitan College of New York, where he graduated as Valedictorian, and a Bachelor of Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY.
