Students at Trevor Day School show off their artwork for new clients at Urban Pathways residences.

Last week Urban Pathways visited the second graders at Trevor Day School in New York City and we had an excellent time!

The children are currently learning about survival, the differences between “wants” and “needs” and the importance of shelter: security, safety, privacy, and care.  The Urban Pathways development team discussed the great work the organization does to ensure that those less fortunate have the tools they “need” to survive.  The lesson was capped off with the children breaking off into groups and creating “Welcome Home” signs for Urban Pathways new clients as they enter our residences.

“It was great to see how knowledgeable and aware the children are of the importance of shelter at such a young age.” said Nancy Olecki Director of Development for Urban Pathways.

Thank you to all who made last weeks visit possible including our board of directors and the Trevor Day School. If you are ever interested in having the Urban Pathways teams present at your child’s school email us at development@urbanpathways.org. It’s a great way to educate students and their parents about the organizations work and mission.

Founded in 1975, Urban Pathways (UP) is a not-for-profit, social service and supportive housing organization serving homeless adults in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Urban Pathways serves as the first point of contact for New Yorkers. We engage individuals “where they at” through our strong network of social services to help individuals move into housing and minimize the likelihood of ever returning to the streets.
