Jenkins previously served as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS), where he oversaw one of the largest municipal social service systems in the country, including homelessness prevention, public benefits administration, and emergency shelter services. His tenure was marked by a steadfast commitment to dignity, access, and systemic reform for New York’s most vulnerable residents. But for Jenkins, this work is deeply personal.
