It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Frederick “Fred” Shack, who unexpectedly passed away April 5th.

Fred served as Chief Executive Officer of Urban Pathways for more than two decades, leading the organization with unwavering dedication, compassion, and vision. His leadership transformed countless lives and helped shape Urban Pathways into the organization it is today—one grounded in dignity, respect, and a steadfast commitment to ending homelessness.

Fred was a tireless advocate for the individuals and communities we serve. He brought both heart and purpose to his work, fostering a culture of care and accountability that will continue to guide us in the years ahead. His legacy is reflected not only in the strength of this organization, but in the thousands of lives touched through his leadership.

We extend our deepest condolences to Fred’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

We will share additional information regarding memorial services and ways to honor Fred’s life as it becomes available.

As we move forward, we do so with profound gratitude for Fred’s life and legacy, and with a continued commitment to the mission he so deeply believed in.
