Street SolutionsAn Outreach Team or Drop-in Center is the first point of contact for many of the people we serve.

The Outreach and Drop-In teams are dedicated to building trusting relationships with the people who access those services. Through consistent engagement and compassionate guidance, these teams strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals experiencing homelessness feel understood and supported.

Safe Havens serve as a crucial alternative to conventional congregate shelters, providing a low-threshold entry point to the journey towards permanent housing. By offering a supportive and secure living option, Safe Havens empower people to take their first steps toward improving their qualify of life, fostering a sense of hope and agency on their path toward a home of their own.

A FRIENDLY FACEOutreach Teams

Since 1997, our Outreach Teams have met street homeless adults where they are, offering a first step towards housing stability.

From the John F. Kennedy Airport to the G.W. Bridge Bus Terminal, our team members go out daily to engage with adults who are experiencing street-homelessness. Our teams are always ready to provide basic hygiene items, clothing, and food, or to help someone find medical treatment.  Through consistent interaction, assessments, practical assistance, case management, referral services, and more, we work with individuals to meet their needs. When someone feels ready to take the next step, we help them into housing, sometimes at one our Safe Havens or in our stabilization bed program at Longacre.

STABILITY AND CONVENIENCEDrop-in Centers

Our Drop-In Centers operate 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer services ranging from hot meals, showers and clothing to case management, health assessments, and crisis intervention for unhoused adults. Although we don’t have beds at our Drop-In Centers, we do offer overnight stays for those seeking respite from sleeping outside. Our team is always ready to help connect someone with housing, and regular engagement with those that seek assistance is essential to that effort.
